A unified digital experience for Plures Alia’s environmental services

Mashfrog has designed Plures Alia’s new digital infrastructure, which streamlines access to environmental services and rewards virtuous behaviors.

AliaApp

Since October 2025, Plures Alia’s new digital ecosystem has been fully operational, consisting of a web portal and a completely redesigned mobile app. Both were designed and developed by Mashfrog Group as part of an ambitious digital transformation plan aimed at unifying environmental, energy, and water services under a single identity. Two integrated tools, one seamless user experience: this is how Plures Alia intends to simplify access to environmental services and promote virtuous, sustainability-driven behaviors.

A complete and integrated web platform

Aliaserviziambientali.it is the new customer portal developed by Mashfrog Group for Plures Alia, the multi-utility that manages the integrated waste cycle across central Tuscany. It is a complete digital platform, accessible via web and mobile in both public and private modes, designed to simplify and bring greater transparency to the management of environmental services.

After registering, users gain access to a personal area where they can view the history of their accounts, check bill details, make electronic payments, manage deadlines, book home pickup for bulky waste, receive personalized notifications, and submit reports regarding service disruptions or environmental issues.

A key strength of the platform is its integration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which allows users to view smart waste bins, eco-stations, and collection centers on a map, making it easier to find and locate nearby environmental infrastructure. In addition, users can access precise, geo-referenced information about their area, such as recycling collection calendars, street-cleaning schedules, and planned maintenance activities across the territory.

Aliapp: digital services at your fingertips

Complementing the portal, the Aliapp mobile app expands and simplifies access to environmental services directly from a smartphone. Among its main features, one stands out: the ability to open smart waste bins via QR code or NFC technology—one of the most tangible innovations in the relationship between citizens and urban infrastructure.

Aliapp also includes the "Where do I throw it?" feature, which allows users to scan the barcode of an item and instantly receive guidance on the correct disposal method. It’s a practical tool that encourages more informed and responsible recycling. The app also lets users book "on-demand" services, submit geolocated reports with images, and access maps and bills on the go.

A strategic project already validated by the numbers

The launch of the new digital ecosystem saw significant adoption in its first days: over 25,000 active users within the first few weeks of operation, with more than 5,000 new registrations completed just in the first days after release. These results confirm the strength of the project in terms of accessibility, efficiency, and real impact on the community.

The project engaged every part of Mashfrog’s digital team: web and mobile development, design, backend, and system integrations, with a cross-functional team that involved a large share of the entire Practice’s workforce. Launched with the analysis phase in May 2024, it is one of the most complex and significant projects the team has managed in terms of duration, impact, and economic value.

Development in continuous evolution

The launch of the new portal and app is only the first step in a continuously evolving journey. Over the coming months, additional features will be introduced, including the development of a product portal for the international commercialization of smart waste bins.

An ambitious project, with a timeline extending to 2027, that reinforces Mashfrog’s ability to tackle complex challenges and make a meaningful contribution to innovation in public services.
