RIA Edge Austin

Growing the business, managing margin pressure, and delivering a service that is increasingly responsive to client needs. These are some of the challenges wealth management firms face every day—and where artificial intelligence needs to demonstrate its value.

We spoke with Taje Mohabir, gAIn360’s new Chief Executive Officer and Chief Commercial Officer for North America, ahead of RIA Edge Austin. From November 9–11, 2026, gAIn360 will be exhibiting at the event at the Four Seasons in Austin, Texas, meeting with industry professionals and leaders to explore opportunities to advance wealth management.

Our conversation with Mohabir centers on a practical approach: using technology to reduce the operational workload and allow advisors to spend more time with the people who entrust them with their wealth.

As you step into the CEO role, what do you believe is the biggest challenge wealth management firms face today?

“The biggest challenge is margin compression, driven by fee compression and rising costs. While growth in the form of more clients and more advisors is often seen as the solution, firms must also look at simplifying their systems ecosystem and choosing solutions that will scale with minimal cost increases.”

Has wealth management moved beyond the AI experimentation phase?

“I would say the industry is moving beyond experimentation, but not uniformly. To answer that, we need to consider what makes wealth management unique. An advisors’ value to their clients extends beyond investment returns to understanding the client’s personal circumstances, goals, and how they navigate uncertainty. The same is true for risk assessment. A risk score alone has limited value unless it is interpreted in the context of the client’s true tolerance for market volatility. Because these human elements are central to the advisor-client relationship, AI adoption has progressed cautiously in wealth management. However, firms are increasingly moving from pilots to practical applications, using AI to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency and support advisors, while keeping human judgement at the center of client interactions.”

How do you see the advisor role evolving over the next five years?

“A client who has entrusted an advisor with their life savings expects a service that goes beyond market performance and portfolio management. To maintain that level of service while also growing their book of business, advisors and their teams will increasingly rely on AI solutions that eliminate repetitive tasks. These include, for example, prepping for a client meeting, summarizing interactions, and handling account maintenance activities. By taking administrative work off their plate, AI enables advisors to spend more time strengthening client relationships.”

Where do you believe firms can achieve the fastest ROI from AI today?

“By freeing advisors and back office from administrative tasks. That is where I see the most immediate opportunity. Reducing the time spent on these activities allows teams to devote more resources to prospecting, serving clients, and scaling their business. AI delivers the fastest ROI when it gives teams more time to focus on activities that drive growth.”

What conversations are you most looking forward to having at RIA Edge Austin?

“I am especially looking forward to hearing about the challenges RIAs are facing and exploring how we can help address them.

I hope to discuss how firms can navigate margin compression, support growth, and maintain the high level of service their clients expect. I am passionate about using technology to help advisors to do more for their clients while strengthening relationships that drive long-term success.”
