Accessibility: interfaces for everyone with the WCAG
From obligation to opportunity: how the Mashfrog UX/UI team creates inclusive and innovative digital experiences by applying the new Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. A method that has already become a model with the Alia and Plures case studies.

Digital accessibility: a deadline that accelerates change
June 28, 2025 marked a turning point for digital: new regulatory requirements came into effect, mandating that many categories of services and products be truly accessible to everyone, without exclusions. Websites, applications, and portals must now provide usable experiences regardless of users’ physical, cognitive, or sensory abilities. For the Mashfrog UX/UI Design team, however, accessibility is more than just regulatory compliance — it’s a design principle that puts people at the center and drives innovation and value for both organizations and citizens.
Accessibility by design: a pillar of design
Incorporating accessibility from the earliest design stages is essential for creating inclusive and intuitive digital experiences. Adopting the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) helps anticipate barriers and build universal interfaces, improving the experience for all users. The benefits are numerous: enhanced usability, improved SEO, regulatory compliance, and a positive impact on brand reputation. In Mashfrog projects, the UX/UI Design team guides clients and stakeholders through this journey, translating complex requirements into accessible and sustainable solutions.
Continuous testing for inclusive experiences
Accessibility doesn’t end with a product’s release. At Mashfrog, the UX/UI Design team conducts technical audits, color contrast analysis, cross-device validations, and user testing to identify areas for improvement even after launch. This iterative approach ensures a high level of quality and compliance over time, allowing the user experience to evolve in step with people’s needs.
Use cases: from Alia to Plures.it
At Mashfrog, accessibility is already a tangible reality. For Alia Servizi Ambientali, the UX/UI Design team carried out an in-depth analysis of the portal, further improving its accessibility score to achieve full regulatory compliance. More recently, for Plures.it — the new multi-utility portal for citizens created by Alia, Estra, and Publiacqua — the team designed interfaces aimed at breaking down digital barriers and making access to public services easier, following the WCAG guidelines rigorously.
Beyond compliance: designing for everyone
Making an interface accessible means building a better product for every user, not just for those with specific needs. That’s why the Mashfrog Design team integrates accessibility as an essential part of its UX/UI design processes, helping create digital experiences that are inclusive, ethical, and innovative.
