Mashfrog in Cortina for the Ghedo Speed Contest

Innovation, sustainability and speed: here’s why M’over chose Mashfrog Group as digital partner for the Ghedo Speed Contest 2019

Cortina d’Ampezzo, 21 April 2019. Mashfrog Group was official digital partner for the town’s closing sporting event for the winter season: the Ghedo Speed Contest, a speed race on the slopes of Faloria and Cristallo.

The event, now in its fifth edition and organized by M’over, a ski school headed by the Italian champion Kristian Ghedina, saw numerous participants face off in an exciting speed race against an Alpine skiing legend. Two runs, seven race categories and many skiers of all ages, from the youngest set (born after 2011) to the over-60s, who chose to celebrate Easter with sport and healthy competition.

The event was very successful again this year: there were many participants in the competition, from the the youngest – born after 2011 – to the over-60s, and record numbers. The competition saw speeds over 100 km/h and this time, the world champion’s time was actually beaten. With a result of 104.53 km/h, Andrea Gallina beat the “master”, although just by a little, achieving absolute victory in the contest. The athletes in the female category were no less impressive: Nicole Nogler Kostner triumphed with an amazing speed of 102.53 km/h. The participants included several celebrities from the worlds of skiing and show business: Klementina “Tina” Maze, Olympic gold medal winner and world champion, and Nicolò De Vitiis from the program Le Iene.

For the occasion, Mashfrog provided 2SEC again, the mobile application successfully tested in Dubai during the UAE Tour 2019. The app is a technological product designed and created completely in house by two of the Group’s companies: Unskip, designer of the concept, and TrustMyPhone, in charge of development. The 2SEC app allows users to create a video that mixes personal images and high-quality edited sequences from the event in real time, with lots of effects and soundtrack possibilities. The final product is a professional and personalized video clip ready to be shared on social media.

The presence of Mashfrog, and many other sponsors, with M’over helped spread an important message: innovation, participation and engagement are indispensable keys to building a future based on community support and sustainability. A vision that extends to “Cortina 2021”, the world championships of alpine skiing, which will be held on the slopes of the Queen of the Dolomites from 8 to 21 February 2021.
